Air France 447

Air France flight 447 that dissappeared in a storm.

The tragedy was not cause by lightning strikes.

The Star stated, commercial aircraft are fitted with a device known as an electrical discharge wick which is a piece of metal which conducts electricity from a lighthing strike away from the fulselage.

This is a B747 being struck by lightling during take off.
